Chris Kelly's Death May Have Been Drug Related

Whenever a star dies young, it's not hard to jump to the conclusion that - or at least wonder if - it's drug related. Unfortunately, that seems to be one of the more common causes of death among younger celebrities. When reports surfaced that Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly had died at the age of 34, there was no cause of death mentioned, however today comes word of some recent drug-related activity that may have played a factor in the musician's death yesterday.

TMZ says they obtained a police report, which says Chris Kelly had been using cocaine and heroin the night before he died. The information comes from a friend of the "Jump" singer, who informed police that she took Kelly home to recover from drug use, and from what she said, it wasn't the first time he'd done this. She added that Kelly felt nauseous all morning before passing out.

That seems to indicate that drugs were the cause of death, though there may have been other factors, and this is all assuming the information given to police is accurate. An autopsy may reveal otherwise. Or that's just me not wanting to believe Kelly lost his life to drugs.

At the very least, the update fills in some of the blanks after last night's report of Kelly's death. As of last night, all we knew was that he was found in his Atlanta home and pronounced dead at the Atlanta Medical Center. From what TMZ reports in their latest article, the paramedics who showed up at the scene said there were "no life signs" and they were unable to revive him.

Once again, our thoughts are with the friends and family of Kelly.
