The Rock is awesome. Who didn't already know that though? As if to reenforce how deserved that status is, Dwayne Johnson shared this photo, and a story with it about how he saved his new French Bulldog puppy pals from drowning...

Here's a fun Labor Day weekend story... We just decided to add two new members to our Johnson family. Baby French Bulldogs. In my right hand is BRUTUS and in my left hand is HOBBS. Bring them home and immediately take them outside so they can start learning how to "handle their business and potty like big boys". I set them both down and they both take off in a full sprint and fall right into the deep end of our pool. HOBBS immediately starts doggy paddling while BRUTUS (like a brick) sink heads first to the bottom of the pool. I take off into a full sprint, fully clothed, dive in the pool, swim to the bottom, rescue my brick, I mean BRUTUS and bring him back to the edge of the pool. He was a little delirious.. took a moment, threw up all the water he swallowed and looked up at me as if to say, "Thank God you didn't have to give me mouth to mouth!" and then ran off to play with his brother. A few lessons I've learned today.. A) Not all puppies have the instinct to doggie paddle. B) Some puppies (like BRUTUS) will be so in shock by experiencing water they will sink extremely fast so react quick. C) While spiriting to save your puppies life, before you dive in, try and throw your cel phone to safety. Don't keep it in your pocket... like I did. #BRUTUSLives #HOBBSCanSwim #MyCelPhonesDead #AndNoMouthToMouthNeeded #HappyLaborDay

As the Shazam! star tells it, he recently acquired two adorable French Bulldog pups, named them Brutus and Hobbs (Fast & Furious nod, no doubt?), and set them outside so they could handle their business. The little guys headed straight into the pool, where one of them desperately attempted to stay afloat and the other promptly sank to the bottom. Dwayne Johnson went in and rescued them, because he's the Rock, and he'll rescue two puppies from a swimming pool, even if it costs him his cell phone.

Honestly, just take a moment and think about The Rock taking off in a full sprint and diving into the pool fully clothed to save his puppies. Amazing.

As Johnson notes, there are lessons to be learned here, including that not all puppies have the instinct to dog paddle. That may be true, but in the case of these particular pups, it could be less about instinct as it is about breed. See, Frenchies aren't typically very good swimmers (there are, of course, exceptions). Some might be able to paddle and stay afloat for a little while, but others will sink, as they carry a lot of weight in their top halves, and not so much in their bottom halves. They're a bit top-heavy that way. So, Little Brutus may not have been able to stay above the water, even if he had figured out the whole paddling thing.

Sounds like Hobbs was able to hold his own. But if he's anything like his presumed namesake, we could've guessed as much.

Alas, The Rock appears to be a mindful pet owner, as he was there to witness the fiasco and dive in to scoop his dogs out of the pool, and also snap a photo that somehow manages to offer us a heroic smile, two adorable puppies, and a bit of that Mr. Darcy wet-white-shirt appeal. Well done, Dwayne Johnson! French Bulldogs are the best. Of course, he seems to realize that. Check out the video below, which he shared a couple of years ago and shows an adorable Frenchie trying to go head-to-head (or head-to-hand) with the wrestler...
