Tabloid mainstay Joey Buttafuoco wants to move on with his life. So, he’s decided to take one final exhaustive and hopefully, money-making look at his past. The fifty-six-year-old announced this weekend that he’s writing a book about his affair with an underage girl and her decision that wound up forever changing their lives.
On May 19th, 1992, Mary Jo Buttafuoco was shot in the face after answering her door in Massapequa, New York. Miraculously, she survived the shooting and was able to describe her shooter’s appearance and the t-shirt she had on. Her husband Joey overheard the conversation and immediately realized the shooter was his seventeen-year-old mistress Amy Fisher. The Long Island Lolita, as she was later dubbed, was quickly arrested, and the case captivated the nation. Both Amy and Mary Jo later wrote books about what happened. Now, Joey is ready to put his version on paper.
Buttafuoco told TMZ the story people think they know about what happened is incorrect. He wants to set the record straight, especially in light of his ex-wife’s book which he claims is largely untrue…
”(Her book is an) angry account of an ex-wife who pieced together her own vision of why things happened. (She) had no knowledge of my life away from home."
It’s pretty strange that Buttafuoco would have such anger toward his ex-wife after his behavior got her shot, but I suppose he was never known for having a whole lot of class. Still, I can almost guarantee there will be something morbidly fascinating and bizarre about his account of how things went down. Whether or not that’s worth twenty dollars will be for you to decide.
