New Killers Album Will Come Out This Year

It's been far too long since The Killers have released a new studio album, but the wait is almost over! Frontman Brandon Flowers has confirmed that a 2012 release is definite for the band, whose last studio album was 2008's Day & Age. "It's just whether it's [released in] the summertime or the wintertime," Flowers said. Um, summertime! Please!

The band, who has sold over fifteen million albums worldwide, are hard work in the studio on their fourth record. Flowers revealed to the BBC that they already have a few interesting tracks in the can, including a possible first single called "Battle Born". So what kind of sound can we expect? Flowers says it's going to be a mixture of the sound Killers fans love, with a new edge to it.

I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we've done well and really hone in on that. We don't want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam's Town 2, or Day & Age 2. We'll maybe take all that stuff, the best of all of it and do what we know how to do.

I honestly couldn't be more excited about this album, especially hearing that they are trying to take the best of their previous albums and turn that into something even better. If you asked me what my favorite Killers song is, I'd have to list at least twenty, so this is unbelievably great news. I don't know how much longer I can stand to wait! Luckily, fans like me have had Flowers' great solo effort, Flamingo, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci's album Big Talk to hold us over, but it's just not the same. There's a certain magic that goes on when these four guys enter the studio or get on a stage, and I'm dying to hear what's next.
