Neil Diamond, 71, Marries Business Manager, 42, In LA Ceremony

People might say it’s best not to mix business with pleasure, but with eight number one hits and more karaoke staples than you can shake a fist at, Neil Diamond pretty much does what he wants. The seventy-one-year-old proposed to his beautiful business manager Kate McNeil back in September, and she gleefully said yes. A period of wedding planning and excitement followed, all of which culminated in a quiet and elegant ceremony yesterday that officially united the pair.

According to People, the small wedding happened in Los Angeles and was witnessed by a mix of close friends and family members. It marked Diamond’s third attempt at lasting love and the first try for McNeil, who is twenty-nine years the legend’s junior. The singer’s first relationship produced two daughters and his second produced two sons. Given his age, it’s unlikely he’ll try and add two more children to the fold this time around, but if he does, it would seem like twins would be the only logical next move.

Ordinarily when a musician gets married, he might look to take some time off or slow down his schedule to accommodate the dramatic life change, but considering, as his manager, McNeil would likely accompany him on the road anyway, look for Diamond’s upcoming summer tour to continue without a second thought.

Pop Blend sends out its congratulations to the happy couple. Were they really people and not movie characters, I’m sure Darren Silverman, Wayne Lefessier and J.D. McNugent would do the same.
