Shock Top's Adult Summer Camp Sounds Amazing

When you’re a kid, sleepaway camp is just the best. You’re away from your parents and you basically do nothing but just have fun outdoors all day. Of course, these kinds of pleasures are those that are arguably wasted on the young, as it’s really adults who can find the pure joy in the escape from all authority figures and responsibilities. The good news is that Shock Top and T.J. Miller are teaming up to deliver such an experience.

The beer company and the Silicon Valley/Deadpool star are joining Camp No Counselors this summer to create Camp Shock Top – an adult summer camp that will be hosted in areas outside of New York City, Austin, Miami and Los Angeles. There are 1000 spots available across all of the different areas, and you can find your way there courtesy of the camp’s official website.

When I recently had the opportunity to talk to T.J. Miller about the Shock Top promotion, who mentioned that he was on-board with the idea from the first time the company mentioned it – having previously performed as a stand-up at an adult summer camp and loved the experience. He loved the idea of just a bunch of people being given the chance to get away from everything in their normal lives, and even pushed a few ideas of his own into the planning of each event. Said Miller,

We thought it would be cool to have a summer camp for a dozen people that, where you could drink and I was like, I think you’re firing on all cylinders. This is a good, you guys have a plan in place. The input that I wanted to add was like my favorite summer camp activities, which again, back to the strangeness of me is like, you know, the juggling class, and the talent show is a really funny idea, especially when beer is involved.

The various Camp Shock Tops will feature a full roster of cool activities, including archery a ropes course, water trampolining, beach volleyball, tie-dye, slip ‘n slide, cabin “color wars,” campfires and parties. As T.J. Miller explained, though, there was one activity that they figured would be best not to include:

It’s coed bunks, you know, it’s drinking beer, Shock Top and all the, everything you need to do at summer camp, except for a rifle range. Thought that was probably a bad idea.

You can get more info on Camp Shock Top at the official site now, and be sure to stay tuned for stories about Silicon Valley, Deadpool and more from our interview with T.J. Miller!
