Suge Knight Arrested For Weed

Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight was arrested and booked on several charges yesterday following a traffic stop. The forty-six year old was driving near the Vegas strip when he was pulled over for failing to signal during a lane change. The rap mogul complied with the authorities, but a check of his license turned up some outstanding traffic-related charges. A search of his vehicle exposed less than an ounce of marijuana, and he was taken into custody following the discovery.

According to Reuters, Knight posted less than three thousand dollars in bail not long after the incident and was released. Possessing less than an ounce of marijuana is only a misdemeanor in Nevada, but considering his history of arrests as well as the unsupervised probation he’s currently on, it’s unclear whether the charge will amount to more than just a slap on the wrist.

Knight first rose to national prominence in the early 1990s when he co-founded Death Row Records. The company released Dr. Dre’s LP The Chronic, as well as Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle and Tupac’s All Eyez On Me, among others. By the lat 90s however, many of the label’s biggest artists had defected, and bankruptcy was eventually filed. For the past few years, Knight has attempted to restructure his image a bit and has started a new label, but its yet to achieve the same level of success.

We’ll keep you updated if anything major ends up resulting from the case.
