Why Molly Sims Had To Stop Breastfeeding

Research has shown that breastfeeding is a good thing for babies. However, sometimes there are reasons for babies to be fed through other means. Actress Molly Sims recently decided to stop breastfeeding, thanks to an unexpected tooth in her newborn baby’s mouth.

Yes, you read that correctly. Sims recently revealed on Anderson Live that her baby was born with a tooth. The 39-year-old star says that when she was still in the hospital, she spent time getting used to new baby interactions, including breastfeeding. However, the star says the experience was incredibly painful and eventually realized this was because her baby was born with a tooth.

I know it sounds far-fetched, but according to the actress, Sims makes the story more believable by relating a conversation she had with hospital nurses.

“I’m like, ‘Is there any way a baby could be born with a tooth?’And they went, ‘Oh sweetie, I know you’re a model, but … babies aren’t born with teeth.’ “Come to find out, my baby was born with a tooth!”

Breastfeeding is not usually a particularly pleasant experience for the first couple of weeks. However, if the tooth was really that problematic, it’s hard to fault Sims for not breastfeeding, especially since she also notes she tried some of the traditional methods to combat her vampy baby, including shields and nipple guards. While her case is pretty unusual, it’s interesting to hear about random possibilities—like teeth—with new babies.
