The Big Bang Theory has really made it. I know a case for this could have been made when the show reached its 100th episode or began averaging over 15 million viewers an episode during this current season. However, getting a famed scientist and frequent reference on the science-based comedy to appear probably takes the cake.

As a famed cosmologist and also the hero of Sheldon, Stephen Hawking seems as if he would be a perfect match for the hit CBS comedy. However, up until recently, having the A Brief History of Time writer on the show seemed to be nothing more than a nice dream, according to executive producer Bill Prady, who created The Big Bang Theory alongside Chuck Lorre.
"When people would ask us who a 'dream guest star' for the show would be, we would always joke and say Stephen Hawking - knowing that it was a long shot of astronomical proportions.”

As it turns out, maybe that long shot of astronomical proportions was actually a surmountable situation. Maybe it is the love The Big Bang Theory for Hawking and maybe it is the more than 15 millions fans that is piquing the scientist’s interest, but according to THR, Hawking is on board for a guest appearance. Last year, Hawking showed up in an episode of the animated comedy, Futurama, but it will be nice to see him play a live version of himself in this comedic role. Even if you aren’t a regular watcher, Hawking’s episode, set for April 5, is bound to be a momentous one. Bring on the black holes and radiation jokes.
