Robbie Amell Joins 1600 Penn In Recurring Role

With the big network premiere week already over and audiences settling into a fall TV schedule, the networks can look ahead to some midseason casting. At least, this seems to be the case for 1600 Penn, which has hired Robbie Amell for a recurring role. The actor is set to play a “handsome” but “dim” young man in the upcoming comedy series headed to NBC.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Amell is set to play a character named D.B. I’m not sure what that is short for, but I am sure the role will be less malicious than the one Amell played last year in Revenge. On ABC’s drama, Amell played a character who supplied drugs, bullied other dudes, and cheated on his girlfriend. In 1600 Penn, his character sounds rather sweet, actually, or at least more hapless than harmful. Besides, EW has also taken note of D.B.’s abs, which means he may have a little Ryan-from-Suburgatory in him, and may be shirtless throughout the series.

1600 Penn is a half-hour comedy, which follows the Gilchrists, just your average, everyday first family living in the White House. Jenna Elfman, Josh Gad, and Bill Pullman are heading up the series, which is expected to begin airing sometime after the holiday season. If you haven’t taken a look at the upcoming comedy and what it will offer come midseason, check out TV Blend’s preview of 1600 Penn. I’m not quite sure where Amell will fit in with the family, but we don’t have too much longer to wait to find out.
