The Awesome Walking Dead Gift Norman Reedus Gave To Peter Fonda

No stories about Walking Dead star Norman Reedus start off with, “This is going to sound boring, but…” The actor is known for his pranks and other behind-the-scenes awesomeness, and that behavior isn’t just limited to when he’s working on the zombie drama. For an episode of his upcoming motorcycle series Ride with Norman Reedus, he rode around with the legendary actor and Easy Rider star Peter Fonda, and by the end of it, Reedus had gifted Fonda with his very own crossbow created by the same team that develops Daryl Dixon’s signature weapons for The Walking Dead.

For this particular episode of Ride With Normal Reedus, the two actors zipped around parts of Florida and made it to Key West, where the post-filming schedule included doing tequila shots with sailors at an airport bar. It was here that Reedus got his inspirational phone call.

We’re sitting there, and the guys who own the crossbow company that I use on [The Walking Dead] text me and they’re like, ‘Hey, we have a new crossbow. We want to send you this crossbow.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m here with Peter Fonda, Can he have a crossbow?’

Norman Reedus seems like the kind of person who would make the best Secret Santa during the holidays, or even not during the holidays. I basically just want him to give me presents all the time, and I think science would prove that it counts more as curiosity than greed.

Reedus told EW that Fonda was quite fond(a) of his new gift, and that he was texting the Walking Dead star about accessories he wanted to buy for the crossbow. You know you’re doing something right if you’ve got Peter Fonda texting you about laser sights. Or you’re doing something uncommon at the very least.

Peter Fonda definitely won’t be the only person that Reedus hits the road with for Season 1 of Ride with Norman Reedus. He’ll also be teaming up with director Robert Rodriguez, actor Balthazar Getty and Mastodon lead singer Brent Hinds, among others. Beyond Florida, the central travelers will hit up biker shops, tattoo parlors, warehouses and more as they explore communities across North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Nevada and California. And beyond the celebs, others well-known and respected within motorcycle culture (and the local culture in each location) will also spend time in front of the camera.

While we wait to hear about whether or not Norman Reedus gave Hinds a closet-full of Daryl Dixon's wardrobe, you can start revving your engines for the premiere of Ride with Norman Reedus on AMC on Sunday, June 12, at 10 p.m. ET. Head to the next page to check out a sneak peek from the show.
