Because of this, we know some highly anticipated characters are about to enter the fold and some other characters are about to get much bigger storylines within the series. Most fans of the books are going to like his answer. You can check it out, below:
Yes, that's right, according to the actor, he most excited to meet the adult version of Lord John Grey. During a second season episode, we briefly got to meet John Grey as a young man going by the name of William when Claire put together a ruse stating she was an Englishwoman who had been kidnapped by the Scottish. He reveals some details about the British Army, giving Jamie and his men some cause to hope. Of course, later in the season, the Battle of Culloden happened, regardless.
Lord John William Bertram Armstrong Grey is one of the most popular characters in the Outlander series of novels. He's so popular, in fact, that Diana Gabaldon has written a series of spinoff novels and novellas about the character that go more into depth about his personality, skill sets and personal life. Some brief book spoilers are in this paragraph. In the book series that Outlander is based on, we meet the adult Lord John Grey when he is overseeing Ardsmuir Prison, a place where Jamie is forced to stay to reckon with the fact he was a part of the Jacobite Rebellion. He and Jamie's lives later become intertwined in numerous and interesting ways.
Of course, Sam Heughan didn't have to say "John Grey" when asked which Outlander character he was excited to meet. There are a few characters that pop up in Diana Gabaldon's Voyager that really help to enhance the story. This includes Geneva, young Willie, Ian, Marsali and many, many more characters. For those who are only watching the series, we won't go into any major details about the characters, but at least one of those characters is also well-liked, and others become more important as the story progresses.
As the title Voyager implies, Season 3 of Outlander will feature a really long journey. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore has stated he's excited to work with the tall ships of the period and the viewers should be excited about moving into a new period of Jamie and Claire's romance, too.
