Prison Break Is Apparently Coming Back For Season 6

One good turn usually deserves another, although that one turn doesn't usually involve breaking out of international prisons and going on the run from a dangerous killer. But such is life for Prison Break's main ensemble, and it looks like everyone will be back on the run for Season 6, which would serve as a follow-up to this year's big revival season. But is it actually happening?

While nothing supremely official has been revealed by Fox itself (at least at the time of this writing), Prison Break star Dominic Purcell took to Instagram to make the game-changing announcement. The lack of confirmation elsewhere has us slightly skeptical, but it doesn't seem like Purcell would spread false rumors just for the hell of it. That's much more in tune with both his Prison Break character Lincoln Burrows and his Legends of Tomorrow character Mick Rory. (Both of whom have an anti-fascination with cops, too.) Check out the actor's post below.

With a post that vague, it's hard to think of a way to misinterpret it, so we're faithful that we actually will get to see Michael, Linc and Sara forced to once again get wrapped up in a vast and twist-driven conspiracy. Though it's definitely not immediately obvious what that complicated storyline would entail. Season 5 wrapped things up on a pleasant enough note for all involved, with the Poseidon threat seemingly shut down, as Michael and Sara headed for domestic bliss with their son Mike. Sure, there are any number of ways to make another season work, and we just have to hope creator Paul Scheuring has a foolproof narrative to give fans another adventure. He'd previously stated he only wanted to make more episodes if the story hook was there, so he must have found that hook.

Prison Break was off the air for around eight years or so before this year's limited fifth season, although the revival's planning started up back in January 2015. It didn't actually premiere on Fox until April 2017, so if Dominic Purcell is just starting to tease Season 6 stuff now, it might be Spring 2020 before we actually see the fruits of everyone's labor. Of course, it's likely Fox would bypass the pilot set-up here, and we're hoping this year's revival re-familiarized everyone with making a Prison Break season, so that diving back in for Season 6 will be even smoother and less time-consuming.

It is, of course, worth noting that any future Prison Break seasons may have to excise star Robert Knepper, who has been embroiled with multiple sexual harassment allegations in recent weeks. He has denied all of the claims, which involve incidents dating back to 1983, but it's unclear what the end game will be in this situation. Knepper's "T-Bag" had quite a run in the revival, finding various ways to redemption, and meeting his father along the way, but if he was absent in Season 6, fans would probably understand...maybe.

So at the moment, it's still somewhat unclear what Prison Break's future is, but hopefully Dominic Purcell is on the up and up with his claims about Season 6. While waiting to hear more, head to our 2018 midseason premiere schedule to see all the other new and returning shows hitting the small screen soon.
