Jersey Shore put MTV on the map in a brand new way during its original run from 2009 - 2012. Fans of the series got some good news back in November when MTV announced that a Jersey Shore revival was in the works with the original cast. Given the success of many TV revivals and the enduring popularity of Jersey Shore, the revival was all but guaranteed to be a hit once it debuted. Now, it turns out that MTV is counting on Jersey Shore Family Vacation becoming a hit. The network has already ordered a second season. Check out the big announcement:
The announcement of a second season came from the official Jersey Shore Twitter account, and it undoubtedly made a lot of fans very happy, especially since there are still a couple of months before they'll get to see the whole crew on screen again with the premiere of Family Vacation. Interestingly, fans have been encouraged via social media to be active in the process of bringing Jersey Shore Family Vacation to TV, as they had the option back in January to weigh in on where Family Vacation should film. The location ultimately chosen was Miami, which really could be the perfect place. After all, the Jersey Family crew has filmed in Miami in the past. Setting the revival in Miami could be a great blast from the past even as the participants enter a new era.
Unsurprisingly, members of the cast quickly weighed in on the renewal via their own social media accounts. Snooki went full caps-lock to celebrate on Twitter:
Snooki has come across as enthusiastic and invested in Jersey Shore Family Vacation all along, and she even came out to explain why she believes Sammi Sweetheart isn't on board. According to Snooki, Sammi is in such a good place at the moment that she probably wants to avoid any drama from a Jersey Shore revival, although the cast was hopeful that she might appear anyway. We can probably count on Snooki herself providing plenty of drama herself.
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino weighed in on social media as well, and it was clear that his recent legal troubles haven't dampened his enthusiasm for all things Jersey Shore. In addition to retweeting a number of posts about the early Season 2 renewal, Sorrentino posted this on Instagram:
You can catch the first episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation on Thursday, April 5 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV. There's no need to worry that it will get the axe after only one season, so it should be worth watching for any and all Jersey Shore fans.
