That Bombshell Star Wars Rebels Finale Was A Total Shock To One Cast Member

Hera

The animated smash Star Wars Rebels went out with a bang. And we mean that quite literally. In the final episode of the series, we learned what happened to the crew that we have grown to love over the course of four seasons. And when we got to Hera Syndulla, fans learned that she had a child -- Jacen Syndulla -- with the late Jedi master Kanan. So, when we got time with Star Wars Rebels co-star Vanessa Marshall -- who voices Hera -- we asked her reaction to the surprise reveal... and were shocked by what she told us. Marshall said:

Everyone else was like this: 'Awwwwww!' This was me. 'What?' Ugly face included. Not an ugly-face cry. But shock and awe. No one told me. So we had that fan screening, and everyone else was like, 'Oh, that's so [cool].' And I'm thinking, 'How can you neglect to mention offspring?' I'm just saying. I don't know. Is he a Jedi? Where are the brain tails? When did this happen? How did this happen? I mean, I have like 10 million questions.

And the meanest part about this reveal is that Vanessa Marshall, and the rest of the Star Wars Rebels fan base, won't be able to GET the answers to these important questions, because the series has drawn to a close. However, nothing is every actually gone in the realm of Star Wars. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) died in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And then we got a younger version of him on the big screen in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The original Clone Wars took place... and now we hear that they are coming back. And because Hera is animated (and Vanessa Marshall is super game to voice the character again), Dave Filoni could come up with an idea for a story that fills in gaps of this narrative. Time will tell.

You have to watch Vanessa Marshall's full clip to hear her reaction to the scene, because right after she learned of this offspring, she had to walk up and do a panel... and she was NOT doing OK with the news.

Season four of Star Wars Rebels will be on DVD and Blu-ray at the end of July, and you know that fans of the series will want to own it to have a complete collection of the story of the Ghost crew. The rebellious spirit of Star Wars burns bright in Rebels, and it serves as a wonderful bridge between The Clone Wars seasons.
