To recap, The Blacklist will return with a two-night season premiere. The first half will air Thursday, January 3 at 10 p.m. on NBC. The second hour will bow an hour earlier, the next night. Yes, Part 2 premieres Friday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on the Peacock Network.

From then on, the show will presumably air at its regular time slot, which is now Fridays at 9 p.m. ET. News of the altered premiere date means that The Blacklist will be back an entire day sooner than originally announced. That is one change of plans fans of the series will undoubtedly welcome. Especially after the arduous wait for Season 6.

Instead of premiering this fall, the show was pushed to the midseason. Good things are worth waiting for, so all is well that ends well. What a way to jump-start the new year! A two-part premiere is also a marvelous vehicle to kick off what is destined to be an action-packed season of The Blacklist.

Having left on the startling revelation that Red is not who says he is, Liz will continue digging for the truth. The Blacklist never dawdles, so how much progress she manages to make in the two-part premiere will be intriguing to watch. The Season 5 finale's stunning twist seemed to hint that Liz is not Red's daughter. But everything may not be what it seems, where that matter is concerned.

Based on the NBC series' twisty history, we should be prepared for lots of turns, as well as a potential continuation of the game Liz and Red played towards the end of last season. If you thought the search for the identity of the bag of bones was intense, you might have seen nothing yet. The search for Red's true identity may be even more so.

Liz will undoubtedly be working overtime to uncover the truth. The more time she spends looking for it likely means more time away from her and Tom's daughter, Agnes.

As a believer in the Red is Liz's father plot from the beginning, it will be hard to shake this fan's faith that is not the endgame. Perhaps that is just hope talking, though. The Blacklist has never backed down from a heartrending twist. Just ask Tom. Speaking of whom, Season 6 will mark Liz's first entire season without her husband. That is a twist that is still hard to accept.

The sixth season of The Blacklist will premiere over two nights. It all starts Thursday, January 3 at 10 p.m. ET and continues Friday, January 4 at 9 p.m. on NBC. While you anxiously await the return of one of television's best series, there is new content arriving this fall, as well as joining The Blacklist, in the upcoming midseason schedule.
