Netflix's The End of the F*ing World is gearing up for Season 2, and the British dark comedy is adding to its ranks ahead of the upcoming episodes. The series has snagged an in-demand actress who is slated to appear in Star Wars: Episode IX and the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel for the next chapter in its story. Naomi Ackie will join the cast, and her character will have a connection to one other in particular.
Naomi Ackie plays Bonnie, who is described as an outsider with a troubled past. That's not the only thing that will make her two peas in a pod with the main characters, as Bonnie is also said to have a mysterious connection to Jessica Barden's Alyssa. While that's all pretty ominous and possibly a red flag, it seems like Alyssa will need a friend given the events of The End of the F*ing World's dramatic Season 1 cliffhanger.
Unfortunately, there's little information on this casting that adds to the Season 1 cliffhanger. Naomi Ackie did post a photo of a first look photo of her character, and shared her excitement to be a part of the series on her Instagram.
As for how Noami Ackie's character will fit into the mix we can only wait and see. The End of the F*ing World Season 2 will pick up two years after the finale of Season 1, and Deadline reports that folks across the pond will see how things pick up ahead of the rest of the world. Netflix will get the rights once Channel 4 airs the season, so fans not wishing to be spoiled shouldn't go searching them out come November.
Season 2 of The End of the F*ing World is being written by Charlie Covell, who adapted the original comics written by Charles Forsman. Netflix was such a fan of the show that it ended up giving him another series, so obviously there's some excitement on its end about seeing the new season on its platform. Especially with Disney+ around the corner, it'll need all the help from fresh content it can get!
Aside from the show, this is another big get for Naomi Ackie. 5 years ago she was a relatively unknown actress, and now has landed roles on two major franchises (Star Wars and Game of Thrones) and will now be a part of one of Netflix's popular dramas on the platform. If these three roles go well, it may be the start of a very successful career for her in Hollywood.
The End of the F*ing World arrives on Channel 4 in November, and will head to Netflix once the season is complete. Stick with CinemaBlend throughout the coming weeks as we cover the start of the fall television season, and the latest news happening in the world of movies as well.
