One Chicago Med Alum May Be Joining The Mandalorian For Season 3

The Mandalorian Season 2 poster

The Mandalorian is without a doubt one of the most impressive shows on the small screen right now, as fans are clamoring to see the continuing adventures of Din Djarin and The Child (Baby Yoda). One of the biggest reasons for the show’s success is the level of talent that series creator Jon Favreau is bringing in major talent both in front of and behind the camera. When it comes to actors, the first season brought in fan-favorite stars like Ming-Na Wen and Bill Burr. Now, Season 2 has already set a high bar with Timothy Olyphant’s appearance in the premiere. While a third season is still a ways a way, it looks like the show may have already tapped at least one star for a role, and she’s a Chicago Med alum.

The Mandalorian is rumored to have cast Chicago Med star Sophie Thatcher for a role on the show. According to Deadline, there are conflicting reports as to whether or not she’ll be starring in The Mandalorian or a spinoff series. Reports recently surfaced that Disney+ may be developing a series centered on Boba Fett, so this could be a possible option if she has been hired. The trade also mentions that she could even end up playing a role in both shows.

Sophie Thatcher doesn’t have too many credits under her belt, but she has appeared in notable shows like Chicago Med, Chicago P.D. and The Exorcist. Appearing in a Star Wars production would definitely be a huge step for the up-and-coming star, though.

As mentioned, The Mandalorian has cast some talented actors and, while the show does take on veteran stars like Nick Nolte and Werner Herzog, it did pick a few fresh faces. This included Jake Cannavale – the son of actor Bobby Cannavale – who played aspiring bounty hunter Toro Calican.

The second season of The Mandalorian is expected to bring a number of other major stars into the series. Aside from Olyphant, the premiere also revealed Star Wars alum Temuera Morrison, who appears to be playing the iconic Boba Fett. WWE star Sasha Banks will also be showing up and was ironically mistaken for another forthcoming star – Rosario Dawson.

While it has yet to be confirmed, she’s reportedly playing fan-favorite Jedi Ahsoka Tano, marking the character’s first live-action appearance. As you would expect there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding this development, and fans have even mocked up some great concept art of her in the role.

It’s nearly impossible to speculate who Sophie Thatcher could be playing on The Mandalorian or any potential spinoff. However, if the show has proven anything, it’s that it knows how to find the right role for the right actor. So whoever she ends up playing will likely end up being a perfect match for her skill set as an actor.

New episodes of The Mandalorian Season 2 premiere every Friday on Disney+, and you can also stream the first season in its entirety now.
