Shemar Moore Shares Message About Being COVID-Free And Getting Back To Work On S.W.A.T.

Shemar Moore S.W.A.T. CBS

Shemar Moore had a pretty rough holiday season, and he owes a large portion of that to being diagnosed with COVID-19. The illness affected the S.W.A.T. lead's Christmas and New Year's celebrations, but Moore assured fans he intended on keeping a positive attitude.

Fast forward to now, and the actor has officially revealed that he's COVID-free and ready to get back on set. Check out the picture of Shemar Moore posing on Instagram, looking a little more chill than Hondo does in the average high-stakes S.W.A.T. episode, but healthy and happy all the same.

I don't know what's cooler -- that look Shemar Moore is giving the camera or that glowing purple pool behind him. Regardless of how you feel, it's great news that Shemar Moore is feeling fit and healthy and wants to get back with the S.W.A.T. crew to kick some ass as Hondo.

S.W.A.T. returned to television Wednesday, January 13, though the episode was certainly shot before Shemar Moore announced his diagnosis. The fact that he's available to work again means that S.W.A.T. won't have to go Hondo-less for health purposes or halt production unless, of course, the whole production shuts down. For now, Moore is posting Hondo pics online and hyping people up for the CBS series' return.

While it may have been the hope that production shutdowns would no longer be possibilities after 2020, they're already factoring into 2021. CBS and other networks committed to a delay in production opening up after the holiday season, with many of its shows asked to hold off on production until January 11th. Still, with COVID-19 numbers as high as they've ever been in areas around the nation, it seems like a genuine possibility that Hollywood shows could shut down once again to help protect casts and crews.

So while Shemar Moore may be cured and healthy enough to get back on the beat, S.W.A.T. may be staring down the barrel of another shutdown or a shortened season. We previously reported CBS had confirmed several of its key series would already have reduced seasons, though, at the time of the announcement, a decision had not been made on S.W.A.T. The series could plow ahead and finish with a full season, but there is the possibility of things getting cut short by CBS if the situation worsens nationwide with COVID-19. For now, the show can focus on having its lead star back, and with delays factored in, just in time to get back into production.

S.W.A.T. airs Wednesdays on CBS at 10:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the franchise as well as the latest news happening in television and movies.
