Thundercats Getting a Cartoon Network Reboot

Sing it with me everyone. Let me hear you. “Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose. Feel the magic, hear the roar. Thundercats are loose! Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats!!!” If that doesn’t take you back to eating sugary cereal on a Saturday morning (or every weekday morning) and sitting down to watch Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Snarf battle that douchebag Mumm-Ra on Third Earth; then you weren’t a child of the 80’s.

If you are on old fan of the half cat, half humans or are new to the battle over the Eye of Thundera, then I have good news. According to MTV, the Thundercats are on their way back in a anime reboot of the classic cartoon. Cartoon Network is set for a 2011 relaunch of the franchise. Warner Brothers Animation is producing and will tell new stories around the same cast of characters, who from the looks of the promotional material, have gotten a much needed, badass overhaul.

The Thundercats, much like the Smurfs (coming soon in live action movie form) and those little things called Transformers (maybe you’ve heard of them), were a cartoon symbol of the eighties. Count this writer excited at the return. Thundercats, HO!!!
