It appears as if Shepard Smith is in it for the long haul over at Fox News. The forty-six year old host of Fox Report, cable television's most watched newscast, has signed a contract extension that will reportedly keep him with the hotly debated cable network through at least 2014. Early reports indicated the contract was to run through 2013, but according to Deadline, the deal actually won't start until his current one expires next year.

While the actual monetary figures have been kept under wraps, the new contract reportedly will come with a raise on his current one which reportedly pays him somewhere in the neighborhood of seven-to-eight million annually. It would be tempting to bitch and moan about the lofty salary, especially considering Katie Couric is about to get her contract slashed by CBS, but it has to be noted Shepard Smith does a lot more for Fox News than just The Fox Report. The anchor also reports daily on Fox Radio and is consistently chosen to headline nearly all the Fox News special reports. He's kind of like Ryan Seacrest in that way, except you know, he typically interviews different people.
