You never know when or how you will be bitten by the marriage bug. Whether you are 23 or 32, or any other age, if you have ever wondered exactly why you are not yet married, ABC is about to have an answer for you in comedy form. The project, coming from popular blogger and TV writer Tracy McMillan, stems from a blog post written by the writer in the Huffington Post called “Why You’re Not Married.” The post initially caused some controversy, even inspiring a follow up critique over at CNN.

Sometimes controversy is a good thing, because the post created enough buzz to land a script deal. The single-camera comedy currently has the same title as McMillan’s post. Why You’re Not Married will implement an ensemble cast to tell stories about love in modern American society. Deadline says the story will focus on women between the ages of 25 and 45 who believe men in all relationships are the problem. With the right characters and the right tone, ABC’s new program could successfully add to the wave of female-led comedies sweeping the networks right now.

McMillan has had some experience in getting female characters right. In the past she has written for United States of Tara, as well as published a book about her own experiences in relationships called I Love You and I’m leaving You Anyway. Cinema Blend will keep you posted if the script goes to series. If not, there will always be McMillan’s new book based on the post, set to hit stores in the spring of 2012.
