Hey, I’ve got an idea. Let’s make a show based on real Homeland Security border patrol officers, and the techniques they use. You know, so we can give the terrorists a heads up. What? You think it sounds like a bad idea? Well, tell that to the folks over at ABC who are developing exactly this show.

Hollywood Reporter has the story of Border Security USA which is based on an Australian show Border Security: Australia’s Front Lines. Border is set to be produced by the same genius who brought us that classy show Big Brother, Arnold Shapiro.

If you are wondering, like I am, what in the world could they show that won’t endanger the security of our borders – here’s your answer. “A typical episode might jump from a border patrol in Texas to security screeners at a New York airport to a Coast Guard boat off Puerto Rico. "Border" is billed as the first multiepisode television series to be shot in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, as well as several other government agencies.”

Seems like this isn’t the best idea Television execs have ever had, but then again, it isn’t like the evening news doesn’t pretty much do the same thing, right?
