Arrow Season 4: Check Out Diggle's New Costume

For months we’ve been hearing rumors and rumblings about what Season 4 of Arrow has in store David Ramsey’s John Diggle. We’ve been teased again and again with hints that Diggle would look very different in the upcoming season. Now we know exactly how different, as The CW has finally released the first image of John Diggle in his new costume. If I'm a criminal, this is not a guy I want to meet in a dark alley in Star City.

The image matches up with fairly well with the concept sketches that we told you about at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. The outfit consists primarily of leather with a slightly intimidating helmet. The sketches had a visor in the helmet but it lloks like that’s been done away with. Motorcycles are often the vehicle of choice on Arrow, and Diggle looks ready to jump on board one at any moment in this outfit. We still don’t know if Diggle will have a vigilante nickname to go with the new outfit, but one thing we do know is that we won’t have to wait long to see the new John Diggle in action. He will be wearing his new duds in the season premiere episode next month.

He certainly looks ready to survive any major cases of road rash in this outfit. Not sure about the helmet though. It looks like Magneto joined SAMCRO on Sons of Anarchy. It covers up so much of Ramsey’s face that it may be hard to see him underneath it. One of Diggle’s best traits is his ability to get in somebody’s (usually Oliver’s) face when he thinks they’re screwing up. There’s not going to be much of that in this helmet. Although, to be fair, the bad guys are going to be wondering what the hell they just got themselves into. Maybe that's the strategy. Distract with helmet, then attack while they're confused.

For the longest time, the rumors around Ramsey’s character were centered around the idea that Diggle was going to become the Green Lantern. However, rather than increase Diggle’s importance by making him somebody else, the show’s creators instead seem focused (rightly, in our opinion) in making John Diggle a strong character in his own right. He doesn’t need superpowers as he’s already a trained fighter and has shown that he can hold his own in most fights. He still totally needs a cool name though.

We’re looking forward to seeing the new vigilante version of Diggle hitting the streets next to the Black Canary and the Red Arrow when Arrow returns to The CW this fall when Season 4 premieres on October 7.
