July must be a big month for HBO. The subscription cable network spent the first week of the month renewing fan favorite True Blood, as well as prematurely giving the greenlight to another season of The Newsroom. Eastbound and Down was even given a fourth season, despite rumors to the contrary. Now, with the bulk of renewals out of the way, HBO has given its attention to some important fall premiere dates. So, if you’ve been waiting for news concerning Boardwalk Empire or the New Orleans drama Treme, now is the time to read on.

Boardwalk Empire was already given 12 episodes to complete its third season. That happens to be a couple more hours of content than Treme is getting, which may explain why the prohibition era drama will premiere at a slightly earlier date. According to Deadline, Season 3 of Boardwalk Empire will air on September 16 at 9 p.m. ET. Since Season 2 ended so explosively, there will be several plotlines to tie up in the first episode, and I am expecting Season 3’s starter to be must-watch TV.

Treme, like Boardwalk Empire is set for its third season. Unlike Boardwalk Empire, Treme’s executive producer David Simon has already spoken out to say Season 4 of the hit show will be the show’s last. This is kind of a bummer, because instead of being stoked about the show’s September 23 premiere date, I kind of just feel sad the show has certainly hit the halfway mark. Fans will be able to catch the show on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET beginning on the 23.
