Carla Gugino has played her share of tough and sensual characters in the past, but has never played anything like the character she is set to portray in a few upcoming episodes of Fox’s New Girl. This is because Gugino will be going all Fifty Shades of Grey on the Fox comedy’s second season, and she’ll be bringing Schmidt into the fold of her lifestyle.
In Season 2, Gugino will play Emma, Schmidt’s new boss who seems extremely sweet, at least at first. However, Entertainment Weekly is reporting she’ll soon release the sexual prowess that drives her. This would be a weird side plot, but not a direct problem for any of our main characters, except Emma somehow figures out how to force Schmidt to sign a contract binding his body and his will to his new boss. Things are going to get a little kinky
Gugino is just coming off a stint as a journalist on USA’s Political Animals, where she played an aggressive, but also emotional journalist just trying to find her story and her place in the world. We’ve seen Gugino play aggressive characters before, but her upcoming stint on New Girl just sounds wild, although timely, considering how popular E.L. James’ series has become.
Fans will be able to catch Gugino for the first time during the 7th episode of the season, which is scheduled to air in November. She’ll even be sticking around for three whole episodes. You can catch new episodes of New Girl when they begin airing on September 25 at 8 p.m. ET (a second episode will air in the show’s regular timeslot at 9 p.m. ET).
