I’ve been thinking a lot about the things I want for Christmas. I’d love to tell you that I’m above wanting things but let’s face it; Christmas has a way of bringing out that side to a lot of us. I will say that I’m equally enthusiastic about gift-giving as I am with gift-getting. So this year, instead of writing to Santa asking him for lots of stuff, I thought I’d ask Santa to help me out with some TV-related requests that I have.

Dear Santa,

I know you’re a busy guy but if you get around to it, maybe after the holidays when things begin to wind down, you could work on a few requests I have:

1. Help Dollhouse - Fox currently has it set to air on Friday nights (premiering on Friday the 13th, incidentally, which if you’re a superstitious man then you already know that’s not really a lucky night). See if there’s any way Fox might move the show to follow American Idol or something. That’d give the series the boost it needs to get going. Plenty of geeks who’ve been sipping Joss Whedon’s Kool-aid for years (and I count myself among them) are already excited about the series but it really does need to be promoted and given a shot at a lasting future. So if you have any pull with Fox, can you see if they’ll move it to a better night and give it time to grow?

2. Make 24 good this season. Like Season 1 good. I’ll watch the series regardless of whether or not it’s up to par with some of the earlier seasons but I’d really love to see the show be awesome this year. I don’t know if there’s anything you’d be able to do to make it great but I figure you’re Santa. So just do your thing.

3. About Lost… see #2 and replace 24 with Lost. Also, less Kate-centered episodes, and more Hurley.

4. Regarding How I Met Your Mother, I’d like to see Barney get slapped again. If my memory’s correct, he hasn’t been slapped since Slapsgiving 2007. He’s due. Also, since we’re discussing HIMYM, can you put a word in with the writers to let them know that some of us are really looking forward to the infamous goat-story. Hopefully it’ll live up to the hype.

5. Enough with the spinoffs and remakes. Knight Rider., 90210, the seemingly endless string of Laguna Beach spinoffs. Enough already. Except for the Office spinoff. That one can still happen.

It’s not a long list but I realize some of them might be a bit tricky. None of these things need to be done by Christmas but I figure you’ll have some time on your hands starting December 26th, so if you wouldn’t mind considering my requests, I’d appreciate it.

Thanks for your time and Merry Christmas!
