Delroy Lindo Joining Fox's Ride Along

Delroy Lindo is most definitely a “that guy.” He’s the kind of actor who shows up once or twice a year in a movie or television show and makes you say, “Hey, look. It’s that guy from Gone in Sixty Seconds/some other production.” Now he’s taking a turn at playing a possibly corrupt politician. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindo has signed on for Fox’s Ride Along, a new cop drama that stars Jason Clarke (Public Enemies) and Jennifer Beals (The “L” Word) as a rogue cop and new police chief, respectively, whose mission is to clean up the streets of Chicago. Good luck, that place is dirty as it gets. Lindo will play a politician whom the police are convinced is contributing to the criminal mess in the city.

Usually I would totally ignore a show like Ride Along except that its director, Shawn Ryan, helmed one of the great cop shows of all-time in The Shield. That alone gives this production more than a little street cred going in. The guy knows a thing or two about rogue cops. The addition of Lindo as a possibly dirty pol is right up Ryan’s “are they dirty, are they clean?” character analysis. I might just have to ride right along with this new show.
