Showtime has released the official trailer for the eighth and final season of Dexter today. It gives us our biggest look at the upcoming season yet. And it's at this point that you want to stop reading if you aren't caught up on the series! And considering the Showtime drama is going on its last season, you might want to get caught up before the series returns next month.

The trailer reveals the memorial service for LaGuerta. We get a glimpse of Dexer with Harrison, who looks almost old enough to talk. Maybe. Recent teasers have revealed that Deb isn't doing so well in the wake of LaGuerta's death. She chose Dexter over LaGuerta, but in a way, she sort of chose Dexter over herself. She loves Dexter, but Deb's a cop through and through. Helping Dexter cover up his crimes crossed a line, but killing someone - a cop, no less - crosses an even bigger one and the new trailer further emphasizes Deb's spiral out of control. First, a DUI, then a very inebriated-looking Deb insisting she wants to make an official statement. What is she about to confess?

The trailer also gives us a better look at Charlotte Rampling's character Evelyn Vogel, a doctor who specializes in sociopaths. It looks like she's set her attention on Dexter. No surprise there, but the situation appears to escalate. Will she be Dexter's undoing? Will Deb? The teasers and posters continue to drop hints that Dexter will be the one on the table, wrapped in plastic. That includes the latest bit of art for the final season, which shows Deb hovering over her brother, who's laying on the table.
