Showtime is busy preparing for the eighth and final season of the network’s long-running program, Dexter. On Tuesday, the network released a brand new, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the new season, which will feature veteran actress Charlotte Rampling. Rampling has joined the cast for Season 8 of Dexter as Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a psychiatrist and profiler who has written and worked extensively on cases involving psychopaths. In the clip, Rampling’s character is discussed in full and her interactions with Dexter Morgan are also teased.
We’ve already seen Rampling’s character teased in the full trailer for Season 8, but there’s nothing like hearing the actress talk in her creepily analytical voice about how psychopaths are “not a mistake” but are a “gift” leading to human evolution. This behind-the-scenes look is even creepier than the other behind-the-scenes segment Showtime has released, which notes there is no “safe zone” and “anyone can die.”
Dexter has always been good about introducing new villains and foes for Dexter to interact with. So, far we don’t know where Rampling will land on the scale, but all of the new teasers have offered plenty of compelling reasons for fans to delve in and find out. The end will begin when Season 8 of Dexter hits the schedule next month on Sunday, June 30 at 9 p.m. ET.
