Potential spoilers for the upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory are in the next paragraph. Don’t read them if you’d like Thursday’s episode to be a surprise!

It may take Sheldon a long time to work up the courage to bring out that engagement ring again, but according to new reports, in the upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon is going to go into full-on sweet mode in regards to Amy. The latest rumor says that in the upcoming episode, “The Sales Call Sublimation,” Sheldon will make a big discovery and then deliver a really sweet gift to Amy after the discovery is made. Apparently, poor Raj will sort-of get screwed during this deal. More, below.

Recent reports indicate that Raj and Sheldon will go looking for a new planet. While they will fall short of their goal, The Big Bang Theory’s spoiler website now says they will find a brand new asteroid. Obviously, new discoveries need names and Sheldon and Raj will argue over the name of their discovery for a while, before Sheldon convinces Raj to let him do the sweetest thing ever for Amy. His gift to her? Naming the asteroid after her, of course.

Earlier this month, CBS released a logline for “The Sales Call Sublimation,” which revealed that Sheldon and Raj will collaborate in the January 7.
Sheldon and Koothrappali collaborate on an astronomical discovery, and Wolowitz and Bernadette can’t believe what they are feeling after Stuart moves out.

Plus, the below image from the episode, courtesy of CBS, also seems to indicate this is the likely chain of events. Thus, the new rumors don’t seem to be particularly far-fetched.

Raj and Sheldon Season 9

We knew that Amy and Sheldon’s relationship would be put on the back burner a bit now that the two are back together, but for an episode that focuses on Penny’s anxiety and Wolowitz and Bernadette experiencing nesting syndrome, this is a particularly great c-plot, as it shows Sheldon working to be a little less selfish and more romantic. Perhaps this is a story that shouldn't be relegated to the c-plot, after all?

All in all, it feels a little weird to be writing a potential Big Bang Theory spoiler like this, as Steve Molaro has been really fond of just giving the audience key information in advance, as happened when Leonard and Penny finally tied the knot and Sheldon and Amy had coitus for the first time. However, obviously this asteroid plot isn't a spoiler that is going to change the course of The Big Bang Theory history. It's just a cute, cute storyline, and we can't wait to see how it plays out on TV.

The Big Bang Theory returns to the schedule on Thursday, January 7 at 8 p.m. ET. Find out when the rest of your favorites are returning with our midseason TV premiere schedule.
