Anyone keeping tabs on NBC’s Parenthood just before the show’s winter hiatus was hit with several plot whammies, including, most notably, Sarah Braverman ignoring a vacation with her husband-to-be, Mark, to help out her photographer boss, eventually choosing to party with the man. Mark, played by Jason Ritter, was notably perturbed after the incident, but does that mean he’s being completely cycled out of NBC’s family drama?
Parenthood showrunner Jason Katims recently spoke with TV Line to discuss Sarah’s state of mind on the program and let fans in on some spoiler hints concerning the future. So, if you don’t want to look into any future episodes, stop reading right now.
As it turns out, fans will get to see more from Ritter, although Katims is not being specific about whether or not the fan favorite character will be able to forgive Sarah or whether the next few episodes will spell out the end of things. The good news is that we will get to see the actor back onscreen before the show’s January 22 finale. As angry as I am with Sarah for not behaving like an adult, I really, really don’t want the writers to cut Ritter from the cast. The next few episodes will be really defining for several of the characters.
Mark’s always been a noticeably understanding character and Katims says Sarah’s motivations were not made with malicious intent. Instead, he says she was simply stressed out due to the holidays. Luckily, the holidays are now over, and we don’t have much longer to wait to see how the ramifications of Sarah’s bad behavior pan out. NBC’s Parenthood returns January 1, 2013 at 10 p.m. ET.
Amazing Race & Top Chef superfan with a pinch of Disney fairy dust thrown in. If you’ve created a rom-com I’ve probably watched it.
