Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin is the latest swimmer from the U.S. team to go from the pool to television. The swimming star who set a world record during the 2012 Summer Olympics has been tapped for a guest appearance on the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars.

Franklin will be playing herself on the episode of the show, where she will appear with the intention of meeting local swimming star Emily (played by Shay Mitchell). The two will run into each other at a coffee shop, and after Emily finds herself star struck and manages to get a hold of herself, they chat about competitive swimming. Franklin picked up four gold medals as well as one bronze medal this past summer at the Olympics. She follows two other swimming stars who have already picked up television spots. Michael Phelps is set to star in his own reality show, while Ryan Lochte has been tapped for shows like 90210 and 30 Rock and is also in talks with E! for a reality series of some kind. An Olympic gymnast also made the leap; Mckayla Maroney picked up a guest starring role on Hart of Dixie.

Pretty Little Liars has a special Halloween episode set to air on October 23rd as part of ABC Family’s spooky specials for “13 Nights of Halloween”. Idol’s Adam Lambert will make a guest appearance, performing for the special. The series will be back starting in January with new episodes, continuing the third season that started during the summer.
