Whether it was the anticipation of seeing It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s hilarious Charlie Day, or the two-week hiatus between new episodes of Saturday Night Live, which had viewers eager to tune in this weekend, but ratings were up for the NBC sketch comedy series.

According to Deadline, last Saturday night’s episode of SNL averaged 4.9/11 in metered-market households, which is the best since the series’ second episode this season, which had Melissa McCarthy as host. Deadline also notes that, “in the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night’s SNL averaged a 2.8 rating/12 share in teh adults 18-49.” That’s a season high as well as the best result since Justin Timberlake hosted last season’s finale.

Here’s my favorite sketch from the night, which had Day playing a goofy detective. Others might prefer the Kardashian spoof, which can be viewed here but be warned, that one does not include a very amusing impersonation of Seinfeld’s Kramer, which you will find in the sketch below.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
