TV Recap: Big Brother - Week 6 Eviction

Wow. I have to give it up for James. This guy certainly knows how to play the game and I doubt he’s got any regrets about the choices he made during his week-long reign of head of household. The question is, will any of them backfire on him now that there’s a new HoH?

I’m kind of disappointed in the editors of the show for leaving out the strategizing that led to tonight’s tie in the live voting. Sure, we got to see Sheila coming to the realization that Ryan’s screwed over more than one houseguest in the house whereas Matt has not (let’s just forget that the guy constantly lies to people). After Matt brings up Ryan backdooring James, taking the ten grand from Sheila and yelling at Chelsia, Sheila decides to petition for support to evict Ryan and keep Matt.

I barely ever get to watch the live feeds these days but from what I’ve read at various recap sites, James, Chelsia and Josh came up with their own plan. Rather than just being content to evict Matt, they decided to infiltrate the other alliance (Natalie, Matt, Ryan, Adam and Sheila) and drive a wedge between some of them. The plan was for Chelsia to tell Sheila that she had a fight with James and that she now wants to keep Matt. Then when the votes come down to a tie, James evicts Matt, leaving Ryan to figure out that his own alliance tried to evict him. Chelsia does her part and Sheila eats this up and long story short, she, Adam and Nat (obviously) are all on board to evict Matt, believing Chelsia will be the fourth vote.

I didn’t get to catch up on the feeds today but I’m assuming that things continued going according to plan because the votes went down accordingly tonight and Matt seemed fairly surprised when he learned that it came down to a tie. He later mentioned to Julie that he thought he had the votes. Seriously, nice job James, Chelsia and Josh. It’s strategizing and manipulating like this that make this show worth watching.

Instead of the footage that explained this being shown, we got to see a video of last summer’s Big Brother houseguests, father-daughter couple, Dick and Daniele. To sum it up, Dick never has to buy Lakers tickets and Daniele got to go to Europe and isn’t dating Nick anymore. Thanks for the update. I’d rather have seen a commentary of Dick by himself making fun of the houseguests. All we got on that front was Dick joking about hooking up with Sheila but also saying her voice is annoying.

After Matt’s eviction, the houseguests went out back to do the Head of Household competition. They took turns pairing up and facing off on questions pertaining to something said in the diary room by an evicted houseguest. The whole thing went fast and came down to Adam and Chelsia. Just when I thought James and Chelsia were going to dominate the house for another week, Adam buzzed in part-way through the question and guessed the correct answer. The quote had something to do with being caught in a love triangle. The answer was Amanda.

So now we’re left to wonder if Adam will target the opposing alliance or if he’s going to go after one of his own. Without Matt in the house whispering in his ear, I’m very eager to see how easy to manipulate Adam is. And will he use his reign as HoH to smooth things over with Ryan after voting to evict him?
