Shenanigans went down at the end of Season 3 of the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries, with a blood transfusion simultaneously saving the life of the show’s heroine and turning her into an undead being. With the new vampire on the loose, Mystic Falls is looking a little overcrowded with the sharp-toothed creatures, and a brand new vampire hunter is coming on board to remedy that.

The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec spoke out Thursday to discuss some casting news pertaining to Season 4. The drama’s upcoming season does not begin until October 11, but with production gearing up, The Vampire Diaries has added a major recurring role to the cast. According to TV Line, actor Todd Williams will be added in the second episode of the new season.

Williams is no stranger to television roles, having played on the ill-fated Chicago Code as well as In Plain Sight. Despite the TV experience, this will be the first time the actor has portrayed a supernatural slayer on a network TV show and with any luck the recurring gig will be kinder to him than the one season and done shows he has signed on for in the past. As Connor, Williams will get a shot at hunting all sorts of vampires, but I’m just hoping he gets his hands on the likes of Klaus rather than Damon or Stefan.

Beginning October 11, fans will be able to catch The CW’s The Vampire Diaries on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
