Trey Parker And Matt Stone To Talk South Park And Book Of Mormon On 60 Minutes

Amidst the popularity of their Tony winning Broadway show The Book of Mormon and in anticipation of the return of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are set to appear on CBS’ 60 Minutes this Sunday night.

What better way to start off its new season than on a funny note? That’s what 60 Minutes is doing this Sunday night (September 25th on CBS), when correspondent Steve Kroft speaks with Tony winners Trey Parker and Matt Stone to discuss the Broadway musical they co-wrote with Robert Lopez (which may someday be adapted into a movie), as well as the return of South Park for the second half of its 15th season. The episode will also follow Kroft as he visits South Park Studios, and also goes backstage at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre to talk with some of the cast from The Book of Mormon.

The success of Broadway musical The Book of Mormon is evidence that Parker and Stone’s comedic genius has no limits (at least, none that we’ve seen yet). I have yet to see the musical, however I do own and love the soundtrack, which is available on Amazon to download for $10.99. It’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of Parker and Stone and/or musicals, and not easily offended by religious humor.

It’ll be interesting to hear what they have to say on 60 Minutes. I’m also very curious to see what things are like backstage on Broadway and at South Park Studios, where hilarity continues to be created for our entertainment. More info on South Park’s mid-season premiere here.
