It's now less than two weeks until Game of Thrones returns to HBO and there's really no better way to start welcoming the show back than a "War" preview. Sure, there are many other aspects of the George R.R. Martin "Song of Ice and Fire" adaptation to look forward to but perhaps none as enticing as the ongoing and bloody battles. The brief spot does a great job of showcasing all the separate wars across the Seven Kingdoms and Free Cities - Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons and Targaryen - but the most exciting shot has to be a glimpse of the supremely talented Noah Taylor as 'Locke,' a character known as Vargo Hoat to those who've read the novels. Too bad they didn't give him his own poster. Oh well, I suppose another preview will have to do instead.

The second spot released over the weekend, titled "The Beast," also focuses on battles but includes fights of a much smaller and more intimate nature than the far ranging wars. Of course, as epic as Game of Thrones tends to be (just check out the behind the scenes video), it's hard not to showcase some of the large action bits, however, the best parts of this trailer might be the one on ones, whether it's Jaime and Brienne duelling with swords or Varys and, well, whomever he's sitting across from, sparring with words. Both of the new teases do a great job setting up the upcoming season but I always like it when HBO goes big with the music in the Game of Thrones trailers, like they did with the last extended trailer. It doesn't really matter I guess, they're all just appetizers for the main course.

Game of Thrones Season 3 premieres on Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. The series stars Peter Dinklage, Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
