What's Actually Going On With Oliver And Felicity's Wedding On Arrow

You’ve got to feel sorry for Arrow’s Oliver Queen; even when he wins he still loses something. On the last episode of Arrow, we saw Felicity Smoak break off her engagement to Oliver Queen shortly after Team Arrow brought down Damien Darhk and rescued Oliver’s son William. Despite the episode’s somber ending, promotional photos for the next episode of Arrow show Oliver and Felicity ready to finally tie the knot. As it turns out, though, not everything is as it seems, and the next chapter of their story is all a ruse to draw in Cupid, and not in a loving way.

The CW has just released a synopsis for the upcoming episode of Arrow – titled “Broken Hearts” – and it shed some light on the reason for the apparent wedding between Oliver and Felicity:

A heartbroken Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick) returns to Star City with one goal – to destroy anyone in love. The team learns she’s killing couples on their wedding day so Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) decide to pose as bait.

It looks like Arrow stalker/villain/Suicide Squad member Cupid will return to Star City to wreak havoc on some happy couples. Although Lyla Michaels has done an impeccable job of cleaning up the mess left by Amanda Waller, Cupid represents a loose end that needs to be tied up. She – like so many of us – is undoubtedly still feeling remorse over the loss of Floyd Lawton a.k.a Deadshot last season and is acting out accordingly.

So while Felicity will finally get the chance to walk down the aisle to Oliver, don’t expect the "wedding" to have the purest of intentions, or for it to end in a honeymoon. It makes sense from a storytelling perspective; Oliver and Felicity have probably not made their break-up public yet. Anyone would believe that they might decide to get married during the events of the episode, although Donna Smoak will certainly be pissed when she finds out it’s fake.

We have to admit, it’s actually something of a relief to know that Oliver and Felicity won’t be getting over their differences so quickly. It’s already been established that Felicity doesn’t wear a wedding ring to the funeral at the end of the season, so knowing that this wedding is nothing more than a sham to lure out Cupid lends some serious credence to the possibility that Olicty might not live so happily ever after in the end.

Check out the promo for the next episode of Arrow to see how Cupid’s return will put a damper on Oliver’s already pretty bad situation.

Do you think that, when everything is said and done, Oliver and Felicity will end up together? We will bring you all of the latest information related to the Arrow-verse as it becomes available to us. Arrow will return from its brief hiatus on Wednesday, March 23 at 8 p.m. EST.
