Before he was making a name for himself as one of the stars of NBC's Community and his work as a stand-up comedian (and making another name for himself as rapper Childish Gambino), Donald Glover was a writer on 30 Rock. Glover is said to be developing a new show for NBC, alongside 30 Rock executive producer Matt Hubbard.

File this one under in-development (and also legit-awesome). THR (via TV Guide) is reporting that NBC is close to a put-pilot commitment for a new project Donald Glover is developing with 30 Rock's Matt Hubbard. It's described as "loosely based on Glover's life" and would star Glover. Before you start panicking that Troy is leaving Greendale Community, THR says the project is in second position to Community, which is set to debut its fourth season next month on its new night, Friday (that last part, you can panic about.)

No title for the project was mentioned, but it's reportedly close to a put-pilot commitment at NBC with "a large penalty" set if it it doesn't move forward. As a Community fan, I don't like the thought of Glover not being available to continue playing Troy (or the idea of Community not being around). As a Donald Glover fan, it's always good news to hear that he's working on something new (especially if it's a show that has him as the star). It'll be interesting to see how this project develops and whether things move forward for it. In the meantime, we'll get to see Glover back on Community when the NBC comedy series returns Friday, October 19 at 8:30.
