Taylor Swift Is Getting Her Own Mobile Game, Get The Details

Do you remember the surprising and wildly successful Kim Kardashian game that released on mobile platforms a couple years ago? Well, mobile gaming developer Glu Mobile is at it again, and this time Taylor Swift is getting her own mobile game.

The deal between Swift and Glu Mobile was announced this morning. Glu Mobile CEO Niccolo de Masi said in the announcement,

We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience. Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.

Glu Mobile is smart in signing a mobile gaming deal with Taylor Swift, because her fanbase is not only massive, but strictly loyal. If you take a look at her Twitter page, she has over 70 million followers—which is an insane amount.

Glu Mobile has been known to partner with various celebrities in developing mobile games, which not only includes Kim Kardashian, but world famous cook Gordon Ramsay and rival pop singer Katy Perry.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood was a mobile RPG that gave players a taste of the Hollywood lifestyle as they became BFF’s with Kim Kardashian and completed quests to rise in fame and notoriety. In the game, you’re given tools to design your own character and as you rise in fame, you get more options for clothing and job opportunities. You can even travel to places like Miami to complete quests. While these celebrity-based games from Glu Mobile are always free-to-play, they do have in-game microtransactions that allow you to get ahead in the game or buy more items. It made over $40 million in its first three months. So I can imagine the Taylor Swift version of this game won’t play too much different. And with the gigantic fan base that Swift has, I’ll be surprised if this game doesn’t succeed more than the Kardashian game.

The Taylor Swift mobile game is expected to release sometime later this year.
