GTA 5 Wii U And PC Versions Being Considered
Rockstar Games only announced Grand Theft Auto V for the PS3 and Xbox 360. That's not the extent of their plans for the game, though. Rockstar VP Dan Houser says that they're considering other platforms as well.
"Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you," House told IGN. "The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market."
A PC release for GTA V always seemed likely. Every other main game in the series has been released on that platform. Furthermore, a European retailer mentioned a PC version in their recent advertisement.
The Wii U's chances at landing a GTA game felt shakier. Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Rockstar parent Take-Two, said he was "skeptical" that any of the companies' core franchises would be released on that console. Take-Two's plans for the platform are currently limited to sports and family titles.
GTA V is currently slated for a Spring 2013 release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Even if Rockstar releases the game on other platforms, it seems unlikely that those ports will arrive at the same time.
