Knytt Underground Offers A Metric Ton Of New Announcements
Knytt Underground has had quite the journey, making it from PC to PlayStation consoles, and now gearing up to join the Nintendo family. But that's not all that's going on for the little indie game that could these days, as developer Nicklas Nygren and publisher Ripstone have a bunch of news pertaining to Knytt they'd like to share with the world.
Along with a permanent price drop on the PlayStation versions of the game, the launch of the game's free soundtrack, the launch of the Infinity Hype update for computer gamers and a Steam Greenlight success, Knytt Underground is now also making its way to the Wii U. See? We told you there was a lot of news for fans of the game to dig into.
In Knytt Underground, the player takes on the role of Mi, “a mute but extraordinary sprite,” according to the publisher. Mi lives in a town were pretty much everyone needs some assistance, resulting in our intrepid hero needing to go on all sorts of quests through this underground platforming adventure. “[Knytt Underground offers] zen-like gameplay and plenty of dynamic characters to meet and guide you on your adventure,” reads a statement from Ripstone. “It delivers a captivating and unparalleled experience that will not disappoint.”

For the new low rice of $9.99, players can explore more than 1,800 rooms within the game, which also just happens to be a Cross Buy title.
Nygren hasn't just been gorging on free time once Knytt originally launched, either. Instead, he's been hard at work on the new Infinity Hype update, which is now ready to roll on the PC, Mac and Linux versions of the game. This update offers up loads of new content based on fan feedback, as well as all new rooms, quests, etc. And getting the original game will be easier than ever thanks to being Greenlit on Steam, meaning you can just grab the title and add it to your steam library instead of trying to track it down. This version comes complete with Steamworks support and will be reading “within the coming months.”
As a way of saying thank you to all of those fans, the game's soundtrack has now also been made available as a DRM-free download from the PlayStation Network and BandCamp. If you like what you hear in the game, simply head on over to either of those locations and get to downloading.
Finally, Knytt Underground is ready to dive deeper than ever with its impending Wii U launch at the end of 2013. This version of the game will include the Infinity Hype content, an exclusive for gaming consoles.
