The phrase "red eye" can refer to either a late night flight or a locomotive-sized monster that wants to eat you. The latest batch of screenshots showcase the latter.

The "Red Eye" akrid can be found in Episode 3 of Lost Planet 2. After you finish the long, arduous process of commandeering a train, this big beast shows up. To defeat it, you can use the train's giant cannon, shoot cargo off the sides of the train into its mouth, or just hit the sucker with a lot of rockets. The Red Eye's attacks on the train cause the engine to overheat and you'll need to pump coolant into it throughout the battle to keep it running.

Though the Red Eye is the largest akrid you'll have fought up to this point in the game, Capcom promises that you'll encounter much larger. Good to hear. LP2 hits the Xbox 360 and PS3 in early 2010.
