Metal Gear Solid 4 Delayed Again. PS3 Remains Over-priced Paper WeightAuthor: Jeffrey Harris

1up.com and Steve Watts reported yesterday that Konami's upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots has been delayed again apparently to Spring 2008. This is the fourth installment of the hit Metal Gear Solid series that made it's debut on the Playstation in 1998 and continues the story of the classic Metal Gear games.
Not long ago, I did report that the game was set for a March, 2008 release date. That came from a shipping date of 3/1/2008 on the official Gamestop website. That would've still put it in the first quarter of 2008. So what does a spring delay mean? Does that mean it's been pushed back a month or two months? Quarter two means anywhere between April and June apparently, so if you think about it, it's not that long of a delay, but still a disappointing delay nonetheless. And it can't come at a worse time when the PS3 continues to struggle, and is being absolutely brutalized by Nintendo and the Wii. The reason given for the delay was stated in an official press release from Sony as follows: “I’ve lost my marbles. “ Just kidding, it was actually this: “to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.“ But that first quote kind of makes some sense doesn't it? Meanwhile the PS3 remains an over-priced and useless gaming console, while the PS2 still rocks the camel's ass and is going to have, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns as the best game of the holiday season. PS3 really has no game to give a shot in the arm for sales this holiday season which titles like Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, and God of War III all ideally could do at some point. But then again we'll see. |
