PlayStation Mobile Brings PlayStation To Mobile Devices Oct. 3
The Tokyo Game Show announcements keep pouring in, this time pertaining to PlayStation Mobile, Sony’s latest initiative to push content to mobile devices, tablets and the PlayStation Vita. Some question marks still surround the service but, thanks to a recent TGS announcement, we now know we only have to wait until Oct. 3 to have said questions answered.
Since the vast majority of us aren’t actually attending TGS, Sony did us a solid by reposting this news on the PlayStation Blog. For starters, we now know that PlayStation Mobile will be out on Oct. 30 and, when it launches, game prices will range from $2 to $20.
“PlayStation Mobile is a brand new platform for tablets and smartphones that offers PlayStation-like experiences on a number of different mobile devices,” explains PS Digital Platforms Senior Director Jack Buser. “When PlayStation Mobile Launches on Oct. 3, we will have around 30 titles available from a range of developers, including games from indie devs as well as our own Sony Computer Entertainment World Wide Studios.”
Buser goes on to say that the launch lineup will run the genre gamut, offering adventure and action titles, as well as puzzle, sports and simulation. All of these will be available through a PSM storefront. For the purposes of buying games on the Vita, it’s probably a safe bet that a “PlayStation Mobile” tab will simply be added to the store once the service goes live.
What this all boils down to is more games to play on your various PlayStation certified devices. For Vita owners who complain that there aren’t enough things to play on Sony’s newest handheld device, that should come as some very, very good news.
