Put Chopin’s music to the classical tale of a struggle between the perpetual forces of good and evil and you have yourself an Eternal Sonata. This game is as charming as it is uniquely balanced with a few old-school RPG elements and a good dose of visual eye-candy. And if you never played this game for the Xbox 360, it will soon be available for the PlayStation 3.

There’s been a revision of sorts to this rendition of the game, giving PlayStation 3 gamers who had to wait a year for this game to come out, exclusive new content not featured on the Xbox 360. For starters, there’s new playable characters who join the player’s party: Crescendo and Serenade. The battle system has been left intact, along with the story, however PS3 owners will be treated to additional voice-over work and new cinematic sequences.

Speaking of the story, if you have no idea what Eternal Sonata was about, the general gist is that young Frederick Chopin ventures into a deep dream state while experiencing the last few hours of life. In his dream state, Chopin becomes involved in a charming story that unfolds as players journey through the land of musical themes. All the characters players encounter have musical names and contribute something different or unique to the party.

The game’s light/dark magic system returns (i.e., with enemies and player moves being dependent on whether the characters are draped in shadows or standing in the light), along with the briskly paced battles. Players will also encounter exclusive new areas to adventure to in the PlayStation 3 version, including new dungeons and enemy encounters. A few new songs have also been added to the overall soundtrack for the game, giving players a bit more incentive to pick this up over the Xbox 360 version if you never played the game before.

Eternal Sonata for the PlayStation 3 will be released in North America on October 21st for the SRP of $59.99. You can be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for more news and updates on all the latest games.
