Road Not Taken, The Swapper Lead Charge On PlayStation Consoles This Week
It’s a brand new week, which means it is once again time for your weekly dose of gaming goodness coming to you directly from the PlayStation camp. Fast vehicles are joined this week by some portable platforming, a new RPG and a few indie titles that offer big experiences for a smaller price tag.
First up is The Swapper, part of the Play 2014 selection of cross-buy indie games new to PlayStation platforms. The Swapper began life on PC last year and, once this Tuesday’s PSN update goes live, it’ll finally be made available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita for a single purchase. A platforming puzzle game, the player will explore a mysterious space station while creating and controlling clones of themselves in order to survive. The Swapper gained high praise when it originally launched last year and, if you’ll check out our review from a few weeks ago, you’ll see that this indie gem made the transition to PlayStation quite nicely.
It’s a big week for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as two titles hot off of the presses are actually included in this month’s additions to the Instant Game Collection. First is Metrico bringing its unique brand of platforming across infographics to the PS Vita. Also included in this week’s update is Road Not Taken, an adorable new PlayStation 4 game that asks the player to find the optimal path through life. This is one of those games that’s perhaps better shown than told, so here you go…
Speed hounds also have a few of new games to look forward to this week. Dirt 3 will make the world of off-road racing a reality for the PlayStation 3 while Moto GP 13 brings its two-wheeled antics to the PlayStation Vita, tasking players to race for the top position on dirt bikes galore. Finally, there’s Table Top Racing for the Vita, coming from the team behind the WipeOut series. You won’t be racing hover crafts this time around, though, as players will instead take control of toy cars as they careen across tracks set up on everyday surfaces.
For fans of dark fantasy and loot aplenty, Sacred 3 also hits the PlayStation 3 this week.
“Choose from legendary heroes and fight together against the rise of evil,” reads the rundown on the PlayStation Blog. “You will face hordes of grimmocs, brute beasts, legions of mercenaries and undead wizards. Develop your character’s skills and abilities and band together to use powerful co-op abilities and tactics.”
Finally, Ultimate Street Fighter IV finally arrives on the PlayStation 3 in digital format, for those of you who prefer to bypass physical media.
Look for all of that to go live with tomorrow’s weekly update on the PlayStation Network.
