The reboot of Tomb Raider made an appearance at last night's Spike VGA awards. The new trailer reminds us once again that Lara Croft's return is going to be a major contender for next year.

At the start of Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is fresh out of the academy. She's far from the savvy, tough-as-nails adventurer from the previous TR games. The idea of the reboot is that players will get to see her grow into that role.

Lara's adventuring career starts off with the ship she's traveling on, The Endurance, ripping apart in a storm. Lara washes ashore on a nearby island filled with dangerous animals and mercenaries. The captain is badly wounded so it falls to her to rescue the rest of the crew.

A lot of the gameplay footage was clipped from previous videos, including the E3 demo. However, it combines those different clips into a really dramatic and satisfying introduction to the game. If you've never seen any videos thus far, it'll quickly make you realize this game is worth keeping an eye on.

Tomb Raider will debut on March 5th on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
