Though it's been a long time since Ultima Online was at the top of the MMORPG heap, it's still kicking over a decade after its launch. EA Mythic announced today that it will be getting its eighth expansion, entitled Stygian Abyss, during the summer.

Abyss adds a playable Gargoyle race to the game and allows players to travel to Ter Mur, the Gargoyle homeland. The expansion also brings a new dungeon called the Stygian Abyss, said to be the largest dungeon ever to appear in the game. Adventurers brave enough to explore the Abyss will find challenging new foes like the Stygian Dragon, Medusa, and Primeval Lich. The Abyss also contains PvP zones so you can get your duel on.

Stygian will be a digital-only release. The price wasn't mentioned in the announcement. For more information on the expansion, head on over to the official website that EA just launched.
